Except as otherwise mentioned, these product-types include only products meant to prevent microbial and algal development.

Product type 6:   Preservatives for products during storage

Products used for the preservation of manufactured products, other than food, animal food, cosmetics or medical products and medical devices, by controlling microbial deterioration in order to ensure their shelf life.

Products used as preservatives for the storage or use of rodenticide baits, insecticides or other types of baits.

Product type 7:   Preservatives for films

Products used for the preservation of films or coatings, by controlling microbial deterioration or algal growth in order to protect the initial properties of the surface of materials or objects, such as paints, plastics, sealants, wall adhesives, binders, papers, works of art.

Product type 8:   Wood preservatives

Products used for the preservation of wood, starting from the transformation stage taking place in sawmill, or wood products by keeping under control wood destroying or deforming organisms, including insects.

This type of products includes both preventive products, as well as curative products.

Product type 9:   Preservatives for fiber, leather, rubber and polymerized materials

Products used for preservation of fibrous or polymerized materials, such as leather, rubber or paper or textile products by the keeping under control the microbiological deteriorations.

This type of products includes biocides that inhibit the deposition of microorganisms on the surface of materials and, therefore, hamper or prevent the development of odor and / or offer other kind of benefits.

Product type 10:   Preservatives for building materials

Products used for the preservation of masonry, composite materials, or other construction materials, with the exception of wood, by combating harmful microbiological and algal attacks.

Product type 11:   Preservatives for systems used for the cooling and processing of liquids

Products used for the preservation of water or other liquids used in cooling and processing systems by keeping under control harmful organisms such as microbes, algae and mussels.

This does not include products used to disinfect drinking water or swimming pool water.

Product type 12:   Slimicides

Products used for the prevention and control of slime (mold) growth on materials, equipment and structures used in industrial processes, e.g. on wood and paper pulp or porous sand layers in the oil extraction industry.

Product type 13:   Preservatives for fluids used in processing or cutting

Products that control the microbial alterations in fluids used for processing or cutting metal, glass or other materials.
